BIO

bestphotoofmeI started painting in my early 20’s following in the footsteps of both my mother and grandmother who were artists. I have worked with and around art since the age of 19. While obtaining a degree in architecture I worked as a fine art framer and gallery assistant. It was at this point that I started studying figure drawing, painting and photography. One of my first jobs upon graduating was working as an administrator at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. Being surrounded by the likes of Rothko, Motherwell and Pollack inspired me to take up painting in earnest. One of the first paintings I completed was accepted in “The Big Show” at the Lawndale Art Center in Houston – A respected juried exhibit focused on new and emerging artists in the region. After working at the Museum for two years, I moved to Dallas to pursue a career in architecture but continued to take weekend art workshops and classes. After several years I realized that I wanted to pursue art full time. I subsequently moved to Santa Fe, NM where I lived and worked for one year. Painting and immersing myself into the art community there was an invaluable experience. The last three years I have lived and worked in Asheville NC.  The beautiful Smokey Mountains, and the inspiring Asheville atmosphere, are now my home. My work has now shown in galleries, juried art shows, retail businesses and private collections.
